How do I change my password to something more memorable?
When you sign up as a user from the site, you will be emailed a randomly generated password, use this to login to the site from the forum page, in the left hand panel, once you have logged in you will see in the same left hand panel “view your profile”, click on this then “edit” and then you will be able to update your profile including your password…..for some reason this only works from logging in on the forum page, we are working to correct this so that you will also be able to do this form the Home page too.

How do I post an entry on Cycle Sport London?
divx cujo

To begin with, you must be a Cycle Sport London Contributor. If you are a race organiser, promoter, photographer (amateur or pro), journalist, or cycling enthusiasts who wants to promote their event, and post results, photos and cycling stories, please email contribute@cyclesportlondon.com with your preferred username and password.

Once you have logged in to the site using your new username and password, click the ‘Dashboard’ link and you will be taken to Cycle Sport London’s dashboard. From here you can write new posts, upload photos, place an event in the calendar or edit your previous posts.

To write a new post, click the ‘Write new post’ button. This will take you to a text entry window, where you can now write your post. The controls are very similar to writing an email. It’s a good idea to put quite a bit of info in the title, for example if you are promoting a future event : ” TRACK: Easter meeting, Herne Hill, March 30th, 2pm.” Below the post is a box titled ‘Categories’ with a list of check boxes such as news, pictures, results and various sub-categories. This will file your post under the relevant category. Please only check the categories that directly apply to your post……there are main categories (events, news, pictures and results) and each of these has sub categories, make sure you select the sub category in the correct main category.

You can post to more than one category (eg results/track, Results/women, pictures) if the categories apply to your post, you must choose categories and please do not post to categories that are not relevant.

To attach a picture to your post, click the ‘Add Flickr Photo’ button which is near the Add media section at the top of the text box and looks like a small blue and pink circle. This will open a window. Before you can attach a photo, you will first need to upload it to Flickr. Click the ‘Flickr Upload’ tab at the top of the new window. Select a picture from your computer, give it a name and description, then click ‘upload’. Depending on the size of your photo, this may take a few minutes. After it has finished uploading, you can upload another picture in the same way. Once you have finished uploading all your photos, click back to the ‘Flickr photos’ tab at the top of the window. All your new photos should be shown here. To insert them into your post, simply click on a picture.

Once you have finished writing your post, attaching pictures and selecting the category it will go under, click the ‘Publish’ button on the right hand side of the screen and you are done!

How do I add an entry to the Events Calendar?

In the dashboard screen (see above), click on the ‘Events Calendar’ tab near the top of the screen. Below the calendar is an option to ‘Add an event’. We are working on categories for the calendar but haven’t figured this out yet! So when you fill in the title box please write the discipline first (eg TRACK: Easter meeting), for the calendar keep the title short you can enter plenty of info in description box. Fill in all the other details. Leave the visibility set to ‘public’ and make sure to tick the ‘Create post for event’ box. Once you have finished, click ‘Add event’. This will add your event to the calandar, but we still need to edit the post for this event.

Now click the ‘Manage’ tab near the top of the screen. This will show all of your posts and enable you to edit them. At the top of the list should be a post for your event. Click the title of the event and it will open it as if you were writing a new post. You can now add any more text and pictures if you like. Make sure you tick the relevant ‘Categories’ box or boxes to make sure that your event will be listed under the correct heading and will be found by users. Once you have finished, click the ‘Save’ button to the right of the screen and you are done.

Guideline for Photographers

The policy of the CSL website is to promote the sporting disciplines of cycling, in line with British Cycling guidelines in the UK. This includes promoting and recognising youth and juvenile competition. However, with Child Protection now a high priority for all sporting bodies, British Cycling has developed a specific policy of protecting young athletes who may be pictured racing on the website.

The publication of images of under-sixteen’s on the internet is an increasingly sensitive issue. British Cycling’s has introduced a policy to help protect members in this age group. CSL advises that photographers only publish shots of riders in the under sixteen categories on its website if the images involve racing or formal training or formal club on-the-bike activities. Off-the-bike shots of this age group will be limited to groups of ten riders or more. Off-the-bike individual or small group shots of under-sixteen’s may be removed. CSL will always remove images from its website upon request, where reasonable. Email reportabuse@cyclesportlondon.com

Hope this all makes sense, we will endeavour to help you but it’s unlikely that we’ll respond to individual emails, instead we’ll probably update the FAQ page.
