OPENING: Tour de Ville bike shop Hackney
by admin ~ May 9th, 2008. Filed under: News.
Opening this Saturday 13th December, Tour de Ville move from their secret warehouse to huge public premises with their new shop in North London.
Tour de Ville is not like other bike shops, they sell high quality vintage bikes, frames and parts sourced from all over mainland Europe. I recently visited the new premises whilst they were making an inventory of their offerings, it’s a real treasure trove of classic stuff from clothing to components with plenty of items listed under the magic term NOS (New Old Stock).
Tour de Ville is owned and run by former Dutch junior cycling legend Jos Van Veldhoven, who has cycling in his blood and is renowned for being London’s fastest courier (a title he backed up this year with numerous wins riding for Rollapaluza CC) and his partner Keith James who has 14 years of experience in the cycle trade and is known to most from his time at Condor cycles.
But it’s not just about the bikes, the whole shop has been decorated by Dutch graffiti artist “Erosie”, plus there’s a cafe serving Magnus Maximus coffee and the boys are also promising film nights and other events.
The shop opens at 10.00am, so pop by…there will also be a bicycle treasure hunt event and an evening opening party (details to follow).
